Today kicked off WonderCon 2012 in Anaheim, CA, a one-time occurrence in Orange County while the normal venue in Northern California is being renovated.
Peter Mayhew, Chewbacca in the Star Wars movies (and recovering from knee surgery), was just a couple of aisles over, and he kindly signed the back panel of my droid.
Chris Romines, Gene Arena and I were the early arrivals, as we set up the booth and got ready for the visitors about to inundate us.
Wonder Woman paid R2 a visit.
Cindy Morgan, from the original TRON movie among others, was delighted by the droids and came to our booth to join in the fun.
Mike Senna, Michael McMaster, and William & Zoe Miyamoto also arrived a little later, and we put Mike to work on electrical. First, trying to get 9 volts to Chris' dome.
Next, Mike highly recommended that we hook up Metal Oxide Varistors (MOVs) to any devices that used coils, such as motors and solenoids, to prevent damage to circuits due to inductive current surges. So Mike was back to work soldering up MOVs across the wires, in front of a pretty good audience.
As she did a couple of years ago at Wizard World, Cassandra Peterson (better known as Elvira) stopped by our booth for some pictures.
R2 did a little bit of roaming and was stopped for pictures.
Zoe gives Batman his next assignment.
Rob Meyer, Michael McMaster and Chris Romines are watching something amusing. Probably a kid dismantling one of our droids.
And finally, the day's group picture. From left to right: Victor Franco, Michael McMaster, Gene Arena, Greg Schumsky, William Miyamoto, Zoe Miyamoto, Mike Senna, Chris Romines and Rob Meyer.
We'll do it again tomorrow, including our droid builders panel, and then again on Sunday. Wheee!
