City of Orange Public Library Comic-Con

Today R2 spent his 10th birthday with several members of the 501st Legion for the City of Orange, CA Public Library's Comic-Con.

Looks like they were expecting us.

The event started at 11:00am, and instantly visitors entered the room and started taking pictures with the characters. Many of the visitors were in costume.

R2 met Moana.

Around 3:00pm I wrapped up and headed out, but not before R2 got a picture with his poster counterparts.

Everyone had a good time, and I'm sure we'll be back before too long.

Yellow Ribbon Event for the Troops

Tonight, R2, along with several members of the 501st and Rebel Legions, participated in a Yellow Ribbon event for members of the the military that are returning from deployment, or just about to set out on deployment. Their families are invited to participate.

The event was scheduled from around 6:00pm-7:30pm. Characters surprised the guests as they signed in to register at a hotel in Anaheim, CA. People were excited to pose for pics with the characters.

Later, as the dinner event was to start, they had the characters come up on stage, although R2 wasn't up to the climb and opted to stay on the carpet. The audience was informed that the characters were available for pictures during the dinner portion of the program, and the characters came down the stairs to accommodate photos.

We wrapped up with a picture of some of the military members that were in uniform, and they expressed their appreciation as we expressed ours.

I'm always grateful when I have the opportunity to participate in these events, and I look forward to doing more in the future.

Day of the Child at CHOC

Today, R2 and his newly restored center leg visited CHOC, along with a number of other characters, for their Dia del NiƱo (Day of the Child) event.

(Thanks to Mark Chu-Lin for the group pic.)

We had plenty of characters from the Star Wars and Marvel universes, some I had never seen in costume before. As always, we weren't able to take pictures of the young patients, but here are a few that I was able to get.

It was a great event and we brought a lot of smiles to many young faces. I look forward to our next visit to CHOC.
