ICAN Bowling Charity Event 2014

For the fifth year, R2 joined members of the 501st and Rebel Legion to help raise funds for the International Child Abuse Network (ICAN) at Canoga Bowl, near Canoga Park, CA. (I promise I'm not recycling pictures from previous years.) Would R2 finally get that elusive strike?



The Star Wars characters are promoted to draw the crowd, and funds are raised through the bowling, food sales, auction and raffle that takes place.



People lined up at the tables to bid on the items.



And they did indeed draw a great crowd.



Our mission was twofold. The first fold was photo-ops. Shortly after noon, the characters were announced to the Star Wars fanfare, and people snapped pics.






And the second fold was bowling. Of course the characters got to bowl, including R2. Did he improve this year?




Alas, although R2 did manage to get a few balls down the lane pretty accurately, he's not the most mighty bowler. The best he could muster was a near-spare, having knocked down five pins on one roll, and four on the next.



Looks like R2 will have to wait another year to try to see if he can finally get that strike. In the meantime, a lot of funds were raised for a very worthy cause.
