Swapped Red LEDs on Front PSI
Tonight I replaced the single red LED on my front PSI with three 3500mcd LEDs.
Unfortunately, the blink rate is about twice as fast as it used to be, and is too fast for my taste.
Again, I'm just playing around for the moment, and I'll probably continue to tweak things to see if I can get the blink rate where I want it to be.

I have changed some of the components to make the display brighter, but the schematic should give you what you need to know.

Victor, the capacitor can have an effect on the blink rate. Best bet is to breadboard the components so you can swap out the various items and see how it goes.

I picked up a pair of 47uF capacitors and pair of 100uF capacitors at Radio Shack during lunch, I hope to try them out tonight.
I need a real breadboard, and not the perfboard I've been using. In the meantime, I'll probably just swap out the capacitors on the real board and see what happens. Could be entertaining.

Victor, Allelectronics has a few different breadboards pretty cheap. Also tons of caps and resistors of all values.

Thanks Alan. Coincidentally, allelectronics.com is where I originally bought this flasher kit for my PSIs. (I've since found it for as little as $2.99 at frys.com.)
