Cut Center Leg Rails

Today I spent a few minutes cutting the angle iron that will serve as rails to mount the center leg.

The first thing I did was apply a lesson learned from droid #1, and mark where the skirt mounting points will be on the bottom of the frame. This way I can make sure that the t-nuts that hold the bolts that secure the rails won't interfere with the mounting blocks built into my skirt frame.

I'm using a 1" x 1/8" x 3' angle iron here. I placed the uncut rail inside the frame to determine the length to cut. I came up with 14". I also cheated and looked at droid #1, also 14".

Whee! Sawing steel, how nostalgic.

The rails appear to fit just right.

Soon I will start drilling the rails and the center leg for the bolts that will secure everything together.
