Cut and Notched U-Bolt

Tonight I spent a few minutes preparing the U-bolt that will go around the outer leg pipe for use.

The first thing to do is trim down the bolt. The ends are too long for the socket head of a socket wrench to reach the nut, especially when the wrench is in the body of the droid.

The second thing to do is carve several notches into the curved part of the bolt. This helps give the bolt traction around the pipe. There will also be a flat spot filed on the pipe opposite these notches, where the vertical rail will be locked down with the nuts that secure the U-bolt around the pipe. See here, for example.

Still lots to do, but that's one less task.
