Evercoat Work on Center Leg

Today I put some work in on droid #2 for the first time in quite a while. This time, I returned to the Evercoat I had applied to one side of the center leg.

First, I cleaned up the one side that I had covered.

Next, I prepared to apply some Evercoat to the other side.

Nice and messy.

After a little bit of sanding, everything seems smooth. Soon I will hit all the legs with primer to see where I might need to do some minor fill-in work.

Also, the new battery I ordered for my transmitter arrived today. This should offer over triple the amp-hours of the original battery that came with the transmitter. I got this on Mike's recommendation, he recently ordered one and it seems to last forever on one charge. I usually get about 3 hours before I need to swap my old batteries.

Well now I have to ask you a few qwestions about that battery. LOL

1. How long does it last before beeping compaired to the origionals?
2. Can it be charged with the origional charger?
3. Are there any worries of it burring something up in the remote?
4. Are there no such batteries for it that are Lithium?

5. Also does anyone make 12v 7 amp hour batteries that would fit R2?

Thanks V man!

Hi Moose,

We're not sure yet, it's so new that Senna has only taken it on one event (6 hours) and it hasn't beeped yet. Obviously I haven't taken it to any events yet. I'm guessing we'll get 12 hours or so. Maybe I'll just turn on the transmitter and see how long it lasts sometime soon.

I *think* so. I discharged and recharged with my original charger yesterday, and it seemed to work fine. Afterward, I read that you don't have to discharge Nickel Metal Hydride batteries (the new one), like you should with Nickel Cadmium batteries (my old one), so I'm not sure I really need to discharge using the fancy charger anymore. I'm going to ask Senna about this today.

I sure hope not! :) I don't think so, Senna used his in his Futaba T9CAP with no problems.

I don't know.

Again, I don't know. Perhaps pairing up a couple of 6-volts in series might do the trick?

Happy to help where I can. I really enjoy your blog updates. Stay warm in Alaska! ;-)

I've been using a home made NiMh 2100mha battery with my Futaba 10C (2.4Ghz) and it goes all day without a problem (at least 10-11 hours) It also supplies power to my custom keycoder as well.

It can be charged with the original Futaba charger, but I prefer to use an external charger that has the option to do a quick charge.

Hope this helps.

I just got a 2000mAh NiMH for my Futaba while I wait on the stealth RC. Did you ever figure out the settings for a nice rapid charge on these batteries? Specifically current and time?

I use a smart charger that automatically figures out how much/how long to charge the battery for. Typical time is 1-2 hours if I've drained to to below 9 volts.
