Today I had another chance to show off R2 to my coworkers at our annual meeting at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
The day for R2 started around 6:40am, as he was given the celebrity treatment, and was whisked incognito through the staff-only corridors that lead from the hotel rooms to the conference center.
R2 was stationed at the front of the meeting room, mainly because that was the only area that had enough space for him.
At 12:30pm it was my turn to give a 1/2 hour talk on R2. The talk included answers to Frequently Asked Questions, a description of how R2 was built, and cool events that R2 and I have been involved in. I may post this in PDF form when I get a chance. [12/10/07: The presentation has been posted here.]
I showed R2's innards as I described certain parts of the build.
I also demonstrated various points of articulation, including the utility arms' ability to open and close, and the mist spray effect.
At the end of the day, I made the long (272 mile) drive back home from Las Vegas with R2 in the Droidmobile.
R2 is scheduled to be in a Christmas parade on Saturday, but the forecast is calling for rain. I'll just have to wait and see what materializes.

Very Cool!....I'd like to see that PDF for the slideshow. It's neat to see the specs of other R2's as I'm building my own.
