Mission Hospital Staff Appreciation Visit

Holy moly, R2 had his first in-person event in 14 months! This evening, he joined members of the 501st Legion for a staff appreciation visit at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, CA.



The characters assembled for their 9pm-11pm appearance.



The staff was invited to come by the cafeteria to get some grab-n-go meals from Corner Bakery. As they grabbed and went, they were also invited to take pictures with the characters.



There were some small photo op areas, and some Star Wars cardboard standees.



For two hours, it was a steady stream of staff getting their photos taken.



Everyone appreciated the characters being there, and of course we appreciate all the staff does.

Strain Relief for Power Wires for Dome Speed Controller on Droid #2

The wires that power the Sabertooth 2x12RC dome speed controller on the electronics panel on droid #2 have a tendency to come loose when I install and remove the panel from the droid body. Today I worked on providing some strain relief to those wires.

I pulled out some scrap aluminum to see what piece might work best. The one on the upper left will do.



I drilled it for #4x1/4" screws



Then I used this piece as a template for drilling the electronics panel.



Then I tightened the bar down, sandwiching the power wires between the board and the bar.



Now they aren't going to move anywhere under normal use.
