Finished Repainting Cylinders Silver, Power Couplers Arrive

This morning I repainted the silver areas of the remaining two ankle cylinders.

In the evening, Michael McMaster's excellent power couplers were awaiting me in today's mail.

Mike Senna called to say the painted legs were pretty much dry, so I'll pick those up Saturday morning. I can't wait to get this droid back on three legs.

Victor,
I'm working on these now and I was wondering if you have any ideas on mounting these to the skin. I was thinking of mounting the outter surround with J.B.
Not to sure about this idea :(

Calvin,

As of now I am not planning on attaching either piece of the power couplers to the skins. Instead, I plan to fit them against the skins from the inside, and use something to shove them forward as tight as possible. It may be something as simple as gluing a piece of wood down behind them. That's what Mike Senna did with the older style power couplers. I'll be interested in hearing what you decide to do.

I've never seen the old style,
But I was holding mine up against the skin and it's a exact fit.
I'm scared it may want to move from vibrations. And my skins don't fit that tight against the A&A frame. Please let me know how you do yours and I can't wait to see the pics.
I'm going to try and bond the outter surround to the skin, Then I'll figure out what to do about keeping the round part supported.
Thanks Again you allways reply.

Calvin,

If you are concerned about the power coupler moving due to vibration, this can be addressed by using a dab of silicone on the back of the power coupler, where it touches the wooden block shown in the picture earlier. That should keep it in place (and cushion the vibration a bit as well).

I originally had planned to work on cutting my skins this week for the power couplers, but I have decided to wait until next week because I have some other things going on this week that I need to take care of. I'm going to work on "minor" R2 stuff instead this week.

I'm always happy to write back. :)
