Today I was able to finish updating the rear PSI on droid #1 to match that of droid #2.
I needed to sand the layers of plastic to add diffusion.
Then, I reattached the rear PSI and gave it a test.
Photos always show hot spots more than they show to the eye, but I did do some minor adjustments after this picture was taken to the diffusion and PSI alignment with the hole in the dome, and I was satisfied with the results. For now.

Redid Rear PSI circuitry to Match Droid #2
In preparation for Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, I had temporarily transplanted droid #2's PSIs to droid #1. I put droid #2's PSI's back in place, and worked on redoing the rear PSI on droid #1 to match that of droid #2. That circuit is described here.
First, I had to do some desoldering.
Then, I started soldering LEDs in series, and replacing components on the board.
I also added foil tape to the inside of the PSI holder. It's just for diffusion, so it doesn't have to be perfectly smooth. (I could claim that I made it messy to help with the difussion, but I can't/won't.)
I'll continue with this effort soon.
